Microcontroller hobbyist and electronic project enthusiast can stock up on useful parts by scrounging. Before you throw away an electronic device, take it apart. Examine how it was made and what parts were used. Look for reusable power supplies, microcontrollers, connectors, LCD, LEDs, knobs, meters and even the enclosure. This area of the site is dedicated to scrounging electronic parts and includes a FAQ, How-To and a walk through of a scrounging project. Use the left menu to navigate the pages.

Need help soldering SMT parts? Read this good tutorial over at Spark Fun Electronics. Spark Fun is a great source for microcontroller project parts. (No, I don’t get paid to say this :))
